For the second year, The Laurelton Operation Clean Project will build on the momentum of last year and create a more just and beautiful neighborhood. The Laurelton Operation Clean Up Project is a coalition of organizations determined to make a difference in the community. In less than a year, the project mobilized over 75 volunteers easily to clean up Merrick Boulevard last year and successfully lead the organizations in creating a mural at the LIRR Laurelton station representing the beauty of the Tudor homes of Laurelton and celebrating local activists that have been making a difference in the community for over thirty years.
The first event of the season will take place May 5, 2018. Everyone is encouraged to come out and volunteer with the clean up. It will take place at the following location:
225th & 141st Road, LIRR Laurelton Station- 8 AM
The project will focus on cleaning up the surrounding green space areas of the Laurelton LIRR station. The lead partnering organizations for the kick off will be The Nu Mu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc. and The Borough President Melinda Katz Volunteer Program.
