Laurelton Operation Clean Up will begin it’s season on May 4th, 2019 and all community residents are invited to join. The group will meet on the following dates:
May 4th, 2019 – 8am to 12 noon
June 8th, 2019 – 8am to 12 noon
July 13th, 2019 – 8am to 12 noon
August 10th, 2019 – 8am to 12 noon
September 7th, 2019 – 8am to 2pm Recognition Ceremony
Laurelton Operation Clean Up will prioritize the following projects:
1. May 2019 – The Laurelton medians/mallsat Francis Lewis (From Merrick Boulevard to 131stAvenue) and 135thAvenue from Laurelton Parkway to Francis Lewis Blvd. During these clean ups, we will be leafleting resident’s homes with flyers encouraging them to maintain their own malls and to enter the Laurelton Mall Beatification Contest.
2. June 2019 – The Laurelton Community Garden of Resilience. We will work with DIVAS for Social Justice to program the space.
3. July 2019 – Illegal Sign removal form key locations throughout the Laurelton community. We will canvass the neighborhood and make an inventory of locations where we will concentrate on the clean–up day and report the locations to 311.
4. August 2019 – Merrick Boulevard from Springfield Boulevard to Laurelton parkway. We will remove garbage and debris from the sidewalks and the curbs. We will partner with Councilman Donovan Richards office who will lend us Wildcat and CEO to bag the garbage, and he will get the Department of Sanitation to conduction an educational outreach to the businesses.
5. September – LIRR Station. We will remove the garbage and debris from around the station in preparation for the Fall.
