The Laurelton Operation Clean Up held it’s final community led project on September 7, 2019 followed by their Annual Appreciation Event for all of the supporters and volunteers of the season. The final community project was co-lead by Jack & Jill Of America Inc., Queens Chapter. Operation Clean Up started with cleaning up all of the surrounding debris around the Laurelton LIRR station for the first 45 minutes. Afterwards, the entire group revitalized The Tire Gardens Project, founded in the eighties by The Laurelton Garden Club. Participants planted Hostas and spray painted existing tires on the grounds to revitalize the project.
In the afternoon, Operation Clean Up hosted it annual appreciation event to acknowledge the volunteers of the season and say thank you. Councilman Donovan Richards and Senator Leroy Comrie were on hand to show their support. This year, the community led project hosted the Laurelton Beautification Mall Contest. The 141 St. Roadside Garden and The 234th Street Block Association were honored as winners of the contest.
Laurelton Operation Clean Up is a reflection of all that is beautiful in the community. We looked forward to the 2020 season. For more information regarding Laurelton Operation Clean Up, please contact: laureltonoperationcleanup@gmail.com
