I love being photographed on my stoop in Laurelton. From the day I came home from a Brooklyn hospital, I was photographed on the stoop of my next door neighbor’s house, The Gradofsky’s. I always felt that my stoop or porch was a safe space of love and felt welcomed at my neighbors home as well.
All of that changed the day I was not INCLUDED in the Kindergarten Graduation picture. Never mind, that I was two years old and it was my friends’ moment of glory. They were taking a picture on my porch, in front of my house! I had to be included! My presence would not be dissolved. And so began the development of standing up for what is right, inclusiveness. Include me or GET OFF MY STOOP!!! I love Laurelton.
